Re: Resin Bodies and body parts

What's wrong with slot car bodies? A 1/24 scale resin car shell is a 1/24 scale resin car shell, right?

You're really going to have to try and be a little more resourceful. There's no reason not to use a car body shell intended for use on a slot car as the body of a static model, as long as it suits your needs.

Sucessful car modelers never hesitate to borrow ideas, techniques, parts, or inspiration from any other realm, be it model railroading, military or maritime modeling, r/c cars, diecast cars, woodcarving, clay sculpting, or even slot car racing. In fact, what could be better? It's much easier to adapt parts that are already the same scale and subject.

Where you see a "bunch of crap," we all see potential for our next projects.

When you are searching for something you have to start off being specific to what you are looking for, then if you still don't find it you can be a little less specific.

If you click on Jay's link you will see he searched for "resin bodies 1/24"
If you don't find what you want try 1/24 resin, or resin models, or resin cars.

But i personally would just click the link jay supplied. I mean he went to all the hard work to pull up google and actually do the search, then he was nice enough to post a link.
what a nice guy!

Most of the time when you find a resin model or just the body, it is produced by a smaller company that dosen't turn out the amount of product that Tamiya or revell does. This means that they have to charge more to cover their overhead. Plus i imagine it is alot cheaper to produce injection molded pieces than resin.

Re: Resin Bodies and body parts

You get what you pay for, the same rule always applies.

You pay more for a resin kit/body but you also get something which is unique and not many people will have on their shelf.

I hear you Alex.

Re: Resin Bodies and body parts

You pays your money and you takes your choice. If resin kits are too expensive for you, all that means is they are too expensive for you. Do not go into resin expecting anything like Tamiya economies of scale and ease of construction. If you do, expect to pay in time, money, sweat and heartache. Otherwise stick with injection molded plastic kits, it is the sane choice

Hit that wall harder Alex, I can't quite hear you over here.

Yea. Take a look at Andy's Garage Mak S15 and how frustrated he is with it. The bumpers fit poorly and other problem. Also, injection molded models are stronger usually.
