Nope, must have got those dates wrong. I think it went into production in 1995.

They stopped making those in the mid 70's. Maybe a 928, but those are damn hard to get confused with a Boxster. I think the first year of production (There were multiple concepts and such as early as 1993 I believe) it was 96, I can't ever remember hearing of a 1995 986.

All of you are wrong! There was a "Boxster" in the late 80's. Looked more like a 911 cabro. It was some kind of special edition. Not that many made. If you can find one, then you are damn lucky. Very rare Porsche with tons of horses.

You don't mean the 1989 Panamericana 1-off special which preceded the Boxster and had styling cues from it? Both were styled by the same man Harm Lagaay.
