Stroker Kit?
The 95 is now running on a slim 145 k miles and its time for a rebuild. Ive got about 4,000 at the moment to spend, i think i can find a 347 kit for around 1K. What is the best way to go about doing this, to buy a new block or use the original. thanks

Ive been looking into strokers myself but the more people and shops I talked to lots of them say to stay away from the 347 if it is a daily driver. They say they don't last very long. Most say to go with a 331 but heres a place Im thinking about buying from. http://www.fordcobraengines.com/stroker.html

Re: Stroker Kit?
I wouldn't go with the 351w. Isn't the 351w block about fifty pounds heavier than the 5.0's. Your gt40 heads won't support the 351, but you could machine bigger 1/2 bolt holes on them to get them to fit if you really wanted to. Stick with a 331 5.0.

Biggest knock against 347 is oil control which shortens life. But with a good stroker kit and correct pistons for the application then this is not a problem. 331 are good the best choose for a high psi 302 but isn't going to match a 347 N/A each one serves there purpose and serves it well.
Stroked 351 i.e. 393/408 etc.., are a great way to go but just like anytim eyou go bigger the price is more. Your GT-40 can easily be made to bolt on but will be choking a stroked 351 to death. Your Cobra intake will not fit on a 351W set-up
