Local Hobby Contes (56kers beware)

Interesting little hobby contest in madison, wisconsin only af entusiasts there were me and rx7king who took 2nd in his class with his red supra, the contest was a 50's suggested theme so we were pretty alone with imports...

and then with just 30$ me and justin cleaned up at a raffle after the contest...

^^^ if anyone wants to buy/trade for those military or gundam kits im all ears

these are wat justin won specifically

in addition to all that i also got a nice small compressor($45, but saw one just like it for 150 in a catalog) for my new tamiya airbrush

along with that justin picked up some "helping hands" and 4 self-closing tweezers

and 3 100 packs of exacto blades for $20!

it was awesome the vender gave us discounts upon discounts

That racing Mercedes is the awesomest thing I've ever seen. The flames look awesome, but I can't tell how they did it from the photo. Got any hints for us?

Re: Local Hobby Contes (56kers beware)

it was kinda hard to tell how they did it, but it was REALLY cool in person it was called "a rough nite at lemans" and it was dirty(looked like it was) the way the track and the diarama was, it really looked like it was going fast. the same guy made the indy car crashing into the wall...and that was just insane, won first for best diarama and some other award...it was really cool in person

I agree. Definately one of the best models around. It looks like he took a snapshot of the Le Mans. The flames look excellent. I swear if that thing didnt have the hobby shop background I would have mistaken it for the real thing.

Well, I guess I think I know how he achieved that effect, but it's only a guess : probably added cotton or a piece of melted to shape sprue and an LED to the exhaust...(??)
