Why are hospitals?

Why are hospitals so damn cold? I just spent all day at one, just sitting, waiting, and I froze my ass off.

Hahah I often wondered the same thing. You would think due to the amount of sick people who are not moving around very much it would be warmer, but maybe due to the doctors and nurses running around like chickens with their heads cutt off is the reason so they don't sweat ???????????

1/ It keeps the heating bills down.

2/It keeps the cafeteria sales up.

3/It stops the place from getting crowded with visitors.

4/It keeps the bacteria under control.

5/ Please don't mention sweaty nurses, you'll get Razor all excited.

number 4 would be correct. they are cold because it is the first line in infection control. most bacteria or viruses require a certain temp to multiply correctly and by keeping the temp down it helps to slow this process. if it werent cold most people would get staff infections or bed sores or fungal infections or much much more. face it hospitals are breeding grounds for disease because everyone there is sick. in all honesty it is one of the worst place to be when you have a depressed immune system. since me and most of my family are in the medical field we can all vouch for it.

The wifes a nurse and when i go up there its either bloody cold in the winter, or you cook in the summer.

The main problem is the cost of keeping something so big warm
