Looking to buy

Hey all. I am strongly considering purchasing a 95-97 Tacoma 4x4 for a daily driver and fun vehicle.

My current DD is an auto civic, and while it is a good commuter car, it is very limited with it's utility. I'd like something that can go where I'm not supposed to and still be a reliable daily driver.

My buddy just bought a 95 Tacoma 4x4 and I like it alot. 163k miles and going strong.

Anyway, my question is what should I look out for in those years? I'm looking at probably a V6 auto 4x4. I think the 4cyl might be a little too underpowered? Also, what sort of gas mileage y'all get when just driving in town in 2wd? I know it won't be the 30mpg my civic gets but I hope it's better than the 8mpg my Supra gets.

Just looking for advice, Thanks!

4X4 V6 and 4X2 pre-runners get 17mpg city and 19mpg highway, if you get the 4-cylinder engines then thegas mileage is 1-3 mpg better. The V6 engine is worth a little extra gas money though. Also, if you go to toyota.com you can order a free tacoma catalog and it can give you some general ideas of what you are looking for (even if you want an older model).[color=darkred]4X4 V6 and 4X2 pre-runners get 17mpg city and 19mpg highway, if you get the 4-cylinder engines then thegas mileage is 1-3 mpg better.
