Indivdual thottle bodies
Friend of mine pointed me to this website last night. Its and AUS company which makes an intake for the SR20. Think the name was EFI Hardware. these things can be had for about $800-$900 US. pretty slick.

I'm not sure that's something you'd want on a daily driver.

And the engine management system will only set you back about $2k US.

You need to use MAP sensing with that correct? (guessing)

What kinda gains would this be giving you? Is this something that you would put on only after you've been running like 250HP+?

This is strictly for racing. I guess you could use it on the street but it would probably cost more than a 350hp turbo setup! Just my opinion of course.

Individual throttle body setups are perfectly streetable if one uses a MAF or AFM. Case in point: BMW M-cars have used individual t-bodies for years (except the 95-99 US M3, which is basically a bored and stroked 325/328 engine). Working from the air filter backwards here is how bmw does it.
Air Box/Air Filter assembly to AFM or MAF MAF/AFM to Plenum (air collection chamber) Inside of plenum are tuned intake runners Intake runners to t-bodies (all 4,6, or 8 t-bodies must be in sync for optimum performance) Tbodies to Spacer Gaskets Space Gaskets to Head. THe fuel is injected post t-bodies but before the spacer gaskets from a common fuel rail. Even the typical mid 80's Motronic (or Moronic) can handle this. Its nothing that a good ecu programmer with some dyno time can't work out for the Nissan ECU's in a few hours. When you start using MAP and TPS sensors for engine load, you start to require some adjustability and tuning, which makes these setups less streetable. BMW used a TPS and MAP setup on their touring cars (nissan most likely did the same). These setups are wonderful for engine response, just a pain to maintain. Hope this helps.

However, the setup in the picture shown above is different, and is something used on NA SR20 race engines like the ones in the BTCC Primera's. This setup is for race vehicles. |
