94 explorer has high beams but no low beams

quick question for someone who knows very little about cars. I want to drive my 94 explorer last night but had only high beams, no low beams. all the other lights seemed to be working. Can anyone give me suggestions as to what the problem might be? I also would need to know how to get to the wiring and what not. thanks.

Before you spend the money and time on the multifuction switch, I'd try replacing the bulbs first. I had the same problem. Bulb is easier and cheaper. If bulb doesn't do it then go ahead and replace multifuction switch.

Dim Lights not working

Try hitting on the side of the console ... just to the right side of the
ashtray. If the lights come on or flicker >>> You have a bad LOM-
Lamp on Module. It will have cold solder joints that need re-soldering.
Somehow ... only the dim light go though this box. Good Luck.

dim lights won't work

I just went through the same thing with my 94 Explorer. If both dim bulbs went out at the same time or simply wouldn't work one day when you turned them on then it's not likely a bulb problem. There is a multifunction switch in the steering column that controls the headlights and other signal lights. When it starts going bad the first thing that goes is the dim lights. Eventually you'll loose the brights as well. It's a complicated repair for a novice due to getting into the steering column. I'd suggest biting the bullet and letting a qualified mechanic put in a new one asap before any other lights quit working.

You saved yourself a pretty penny my sister inlaw had to replace the switch and that alone without labor cost her $100.00
