Re: Speedodmer Problem

They didn't hook up the cable, it plugs into the top of the transmission on the drivers side, or take it back to whoever did the work and tell them to hook it up!... 15 min. job.

Yes the cable can easily come out if the clip is not installed right. Had the same problem on a friend's car about a year ago. It is a easy fix.

Re: Speedodmer Problem

I am 90% sure that the speedo cable goes into the tranny on the top towards the firewall. But no you don't have to take the tranny out. Go here and download your manual it will help you out both now and in the future.

Did you make sure the cable is seated in the spline of the gear properly?.... You need to ensure the cable is not broken as well. Disconnect it from the back of the spedometer by laying on the floor under the steering wheel and reach up behind the dash and disconnect it... drive the car and make sure the center of the cable is turning, if not the cable may be broken and that is why it isn't working.... Or you may just want to order a new cable and rep[lace the whole thing if you plan on keeping the car for a while. there might be a problem with the speedometer itself... although highly unlikely... troubleshooting just takes time so be PATIENT and work through it...

DID you get the speedometer fixed?... let me know what the problem was. I always like feedback as to what fixed the problem... Thanks.
My little 88 lude is so darn much fun to drive and with the 5-speed... she get's up and "hauls ass". Like I told you earlier, 1988, 246K miles, and she runs like a rocket but requires TLC and "tweeking" every now and again. Keep up on the regular maint, and 3K mile oil changes and your honda will run 300-500K miles...
