Automatic Locks Freaking Out

HELP! Recently, the automatic locks on my 97T&C have been clicking on and off at random, while driving, stopped at a light, or parked in the driveway with the engine off and key out of the ignition. Initially the problem co-existed with a horn that was kaput and the airbag light on constantly. The horn and light issue were fixed with a new clock spring, but two different mechanics (one was the dealer) could not replicate the door lock issue. This is especially a drag because it clicks througout the night, triggering the lojack alarm. Am not popular with the neighbors. Seems to be happening in damp weather only. Both mechanics ran a computer diagnostic but came up empty.

Any clues? Thanks in advance. Annie

Re: Automatic Locks Freaking Out

I have the same problem. I think one of the contacts on one of the doors is bad. Hoping someone with knowledge will reply. Sorry I can't help.

Re: Automatic Locks Freaking Out

Sorry guys. This isn't something that I could just talk about without looking at the vehicle. I guess I would first start by taking out the door switches or at least just unplugging them. Then see what happens. If it persists, my guess is that you either have a short in the door jamb or the computer is going bad. The locks on these are controlled by the computer. It is not like a conventional system.

Re: Automatic Locks Freaking Out

Had this trouble on mine.
It was the door switches and check ALL of them including the rear hatch!
And, it's not the computer, but rather the convenience module. that causes this if it's not the switches.

mine doesn't have lo-jack, but lo-jack gets wired to the convenience module. Your van thinks somebody opened a door!
