Re: Spark Plugs

On 2.0 it's easier to take off the air plenum first, but supposedly not necessary (I find it easier). On VR6 alot of the typical fatter plug sockets won't fit down the plug hole, some vendors sell a special socket just for this. Make sure you use a high quality plug.

Thanks for the help... We have a 2.8. Do you think it would be the same thing as the 2.0? Thanks!!

Anyone have a virtual Passat Manual and can cut and paste the section for changing the spark plugs and post it here? If not give me your 2 cents on changing the spark plugs on a 2003 Passat 1.8 Turbo. Thanks!!!

Re: Spark Plugs

It's not as hard as on a 2.0. It has a coil over each plug so you have to remove each one to get to the plug, but it's fairly easy.

Is it hard to remove the coil without breaking them or do you need a tool.

Re: Spark Plugs

Some of the early ones had a torx or hex bolt, but most are fairly straightforward.
