Re: I need Help with Hondata???

Hondata is a piggy back ecu. It allows you to re-map the ecu for better power. That is an simplified explaination. And yes it will work with a short ram, the short ram has nothing to do with it working or not. But if you don't have some mods other than basic bolt ons then it will do you almost no good.

Basically Hondata is a honda spacific computer modification, basically the s100 & s200 are piggy backs that allow the stock computer to do all kinds of neat things. Like see boost or change the fuel map or vtec change over points the newer computers for the k20's use a prom flash to do the same thing.

and before i forget it works with any set up

check their website Hondata.com

they use all stock sensors and obd codes so no check engine lights

Re: I need Help with Hondata???

im with whtteg all the way...Its a piggy back ecu that is used by us that have high power add ons suck as turbos and so forth to the point where we need to change our engine curves and remap. You only have a few small add on parts, an adjustable ecu would be completely stupid and pointless for you to have....you need something like a chiped ecu or a vtec controller..but NOT a user adjustabe like a hondata and so forth ...what kind of car do you have ????????

you have it partly right. It is used to remap the comp but the adjustability lies in the hands of a tech who burns new chips as you tune on a dyno . once it is tuned you leave it there is no onthe fly tuning. it requires a chip swap I have recently installed a s100 on my civic the base map should get me driving to the dyno for a day of tuning then as they say "set it and forget it"

Instead of tricking the honda comp with a Vtec controller and a check valve so that the ecu doesnt really know what is going on IMO it is a better idea to use the factory sensors and teach the comp a new fuel map that uses all avail info not just a filtered set of variables

or get a stand alone

and any way with headers and other mods a hondata tuning will add some ponys I'll bet. And it will idle like factory

reguardless do your own research and check out the hondata site it is informative and the testamonials are good lots of people running all kinds of NA and every kind of FI setup

Re: I need Help with Hondata???

There is no p[oint in getting hondata unless you have some aftermarket cams, built motor, or boost.

Re: I need Help with Hondata???

i think what u mean is, not that it wont work w/ a short ram air intake but more likely, its pointless to use w/ a short ram. One of the key features is to provide the engine w/ the extra fuel it needs when u ad more air to the engine. With just a short ram, ur not adding enough air that u need more fuel. When u add more air like a turbo, u wont get much more hp unless u have the fuel to combust. That extra amount of fuel is what makes the more horsepower But pretty much what you would do, is it plugs into the factory main wiring harness, u hook it up to a dyno and have some1 tune it. They use a computer, i cant remember the specific name and i am too lazy to go look at the exact name, but they program new fuels maps and the ability to read boost and extra goodies into the ecu.
