Is it possible

Well forget the subject. Anything is possible just with the right amount of money. To Have the prelude Si center console changed into to a vtec console. Sorry if i can't explain this. But the SI which i have pics on cardomain. It has the e-brake in the middle alined with the shift knob, and has a storage compartment running all the way back between the back seats. And the Vtec. Has the e-brake close to the drive's seat and the has a compartment that only goes to the end of the front seats. With the back seats having a bit more room, but with out the arm rest.

Has any prelude peeps done this to there car. I think it can be done but i just don't know if you can move the e-brake with all the cable and re bolt it. I hope i have explained enough. Sorry if i didn't please help. anyway you can. Sites, own knowledge, anything. Thanks

Re: Is it possible

I just did this last friday, but I used the center ebrake console from a '93. It really opens up the rear seats. The swap took maybe an hour at most, and that's only because I couldn't find a certain angled screwdriver.. (damn tools are always disappearing.) Anyway, I'll try to go take some pictures tomorrow. My rear seats in my '92 are all leather now, as well as the center section. Really makes the front seats look ghetto because it looks so good.

If you use the center console from a '93, you don't need to change the ebrake assembly at all. Here's the actual console I bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEBWN%3AIT

Just make sure you have the section that goes between the rear seats. Pics of that will come later after class today. Take your time, don't lose any screws/mounting hardware.

The rear upper plastic piece between the seats was kind of a pain in the ass because of the mounting tabs they use, but if you take it out carefully, you shouldn't have a problem. Just try to pull the top part of it straight out if you can.

You should end up with a couple extra screws in the end. I just used them to fill in the missing screws that rattled out over the years. Overall, my interior rattles less and I will be able to fit 3 people comfortably now.

Re: Is it possible

Ahh i see. That is alot better then the whole 94-96 swap. I will try this instead the hard part is finding someone that is selling the 93 Vtec console. But that looks like what im going to be doing. Can't wait to see the pics.

Re: Is it possible

Here's one thing I spent about 30 seconds trying to figure out.. Make sure you take out the first screw around the shifter housing part of the console.

I have pics, but I need a good image host that doesn't degrade the quality of pics.

Re: Is it possible

It is basically where your left foot would be when sitting in the passenger seat, and the same on the other side.

Here's the pictures of the new console and rear seats you requested:

Re: Is it possible

I would go ahead and do the 94-96 swap because i think it's alot better in the long run. It may be harder but i think it's well worth it (i love the way my 94 is set up!)

Re: Is it possible

If I keep the car and run out of things to do, I will probably be doing the 94-96 swap, or just creating my own center console. The center ebrake takes up room, and I'd really like a cupholder & maybe a little storage. I like the idea of having the ebrake right next to you, but I do not at the same time. Does it rub against your thigh at all 94preludeSI?

I have never noticed if it rubs against my thigh (are you coming on to me? ) So i assume that it doesn't. And i really like having an armrest too. But i think the idea of making a custom center console would be really sweet. Made to your liking. That would be truely unique!
