future 1988 735i owner?

Hi. My aunt is selling me her 88 735i with the 5 speed that has 132,000 miles on it. I was just wondering what problems are associated with this car and what to look for, she did tell me that the ac is not working and the dealer wanted to charge her 1200 USD to fix. my dad and i are both mechanicly inclined and were trying to narrow down what it could be and how to fix it. any and all info on this model is appricated. thanks!

The most common problem for the E32s is probably the upper control arm bushings (also known as Thrust Arms). Your 1988 car will very likely need to have these replaced if they haven't been already.

Another common problem is the driveshaft may need to be replaced.

Here's a link to a list of things to look for:

Also consider joining www.roadfly.org. There's lots of help there as well.

Happy motoring.
