Anybody know California laws?

I found a 91 hatch in a junkyard near me and its body is nearly perfect, it only has one dent in it and the interior is 5thgen. and is all there. I am going to buy it tomorrow because it is cheap, but i can't find any information on how I would get a title for this car. I have searched the DMV website, but all I could find was info on Lien sales, Would this be considered a lien sale? If not, how could I get a title for it?

I have a 300zx that I have to get a salvage title on, but i have the original title already. It needs a brake and light inspection and smog check then the (salvage) title is mine. Would it be exactly the same with the civic? Who would have the title in their posession now? Would the DMV issue me a salvage title if it passed the mentioned inspections?

Any help would much apreciated
thanks in advance

if its at a junkyard i can say with alot of certanty that its a salvage title already. The owner should "own" the car and you will get the title from him.

yeah but that is the problem, i don't know where the title is or who owns it, which is why i think that it MIGHT be a lien sale.....

Thanks

You should really be asking the person who you are going to buy it from.

Which would be the junkyard, and for some crazy reason they decided to be closed today...

what the hell were they thinking being closed on Easter Sunday?!?

I would love to but this question has been burning in my mind all day, and i didn't want to wait...

yea you need to wake up bright and early tomarrow/this morning. Ask the owner if he has the title and if he does not have it then he will be able to tell you how to get it. Being a junk yard owner im sure he has had to deal with buying a car from his own establishment. I would also try asking at the AAA office if your a member or the DMV if you have the patience. Until you find out what exactly is going on with the car you just have to assume that its a salvage title and the junk yard owns it. good luck!
