Crazy loud b16a

OK, i just got my civic back with the b16a swap, and it is so loud inside the car. It is so quiet outside the car. I am using Hasport race mounts, aswell as hasport linkage. I am using the stock exhause for now, yes, the small civic one. Is it normal for it to be that loud in the cab? Could it be my exhause pipe sizing? The noise just sounds like engine, no rattles or squeeks

Evan

PS, My girlfriend will not drive in it because of the noise, thats how bad it is

Re: Crazy loud b16a

it should be loud....the B16 is a performance motor....but I would invest in a nice 2 1/4" exhaust to allow free flow....so the motor isnt getting stuffed up from not being able to breath.......but if you are worried about how loud it is and you dont care about weight....dynamat your car....dynamat will quiet that bitch down in no time....but a cheep effective way for sound dedoning is tar paper and sub-floor adhesive.....or atleast some household underlay for carpets.

Re: Crazy loud b16a

The noise is from your mounts. Get used to it, and tell your girlfriend to suck it up.

Dynamat is without a doubt one of the most awesome substances ever created, but you better have a generously padded wallet as well. It's quite expensive.

Dynamat is the shit but like dude said.. its crazy expensive! If you want to be a lil cheap about it but still get some good sound deadning material try some shit called FAT MAT. You can buy a huge roll of it, 100 sq feet, for 99$ on ebay. Compare dymanat (square foot per / price) and a fat mat roll is a definite winner. 100SQ can cover a civic 2-3 times over. I had 3 layers in my civic and i swear I couldn't tell the difference between fatmat and dynamat. If your going the high quality sound route and doing the A/V show thing then i'd go with dynamat and get the points and shit. but if your gonna lay this shit under your carpets and on your firewall to kill the engine noise.. Fatmat is seriously the cheap and very effective way to go.

Re: Crazy loud b16a

Seriously, do whatever you want but the noise that you're hearing is from the vibration of your motor mounts. Why did you order "race" mounts anyway!?
It won't go away.. Get used to it.

Thats hilarious, smack her and say...IM RICK JAMES BITCH!!!

Sorry had to whore for a second...so Siz, you dont think the noise will go away even with the dynamat, will it get any better? Quieter I mean, like, the other noises like engine noise and road noise will be deadened a bit wont they?

Re: Crazy loud b16a

Ya, but the noise isn't actually sound from something thats loud, its vibration sent into the cabin and it sounds loud as fvck.

I have serious doubts that dynamat would do anything.
