need help friend talkin smack!!

I'm 16 and i have a CRX, well my Friend has a Intergra GSR with a H22 head on H23 block and its pretty damn quick. Its the quikest import at our high school. Hes always braging so I want to shut him up once in for all. I was thinking about putting a ls vtec in my crx with the type r setup with the type r tranny. Maybe later I'am going to turbo charge it. Well I was wondering if this setup can take his ass out.

Re: need help friend talkin smack!!

well why not do it alot cheaper and turbo a b16? you can push assloads of power outta them scary amonts if you got the dough and knowhow. if you goal is just putting him down in the 1/4 H22 of your own in a rex will eat him alive.
What kinda money are we talking about for your project and dont say unlimited.

no.an ls/vtec will not do the job alone.i say an H22 and some N20.or even the ls/vtec with a turbo or spray but it would be cheaper to go the H22 route plus you'd have torque!!!good luck.

B18B swap, custom turbo kit, boost to 10-12 psi and leave him in the dust

I thing he ment do a poor mans type r motor (ls block, b16 heard, type r cams). I might have misunderstood "type r setup" though.

But the H22 put into your crx is going to cost a lot more than $5000; and a lot of custom fabrication to get it to fit in the engine bay. You should get a usdm del sol b16 and buy a greddy turbo kit and run 5-6 psi; you'd kill him.

I agree, along with stock LT1 Z28's and C5 Corvettes.
The complete swap for an LS engine is $2200 from here, and a hatful of turbos to choose from depending on your ultimate goals. With a $5,000 price cap you'll be able to just make it, and that's including dynotuning time.

Poor man's Type R is a B18C block with a B16 head. Then you replace the internals on the head with CTR components, I believe.

If you run a B anything boosted or not on just a five grand budget, your going to get slaughtered. You gotta pay to play, and he is sporting a torque monster with the HP to back it up (provided it is built right).

Re: need help friend talkin smack!!

Depending on the mods he's got done to that h22/h23 motor, 5 grand should be enough if he does the work himself. The motor shipped shouldn't come out to be more than $2500. I believe they quoted my shipping to be around $250-$300 for a B18A swap. I've sourced and priced parts for a turbo kit for a B18B before and it came out to be about $2700. Add about $300 to that for dyno time and misc. odds and ends and you're only over the budget $500 and that could be chipped away by replacing some of the parts of the turbo kit.

The H22 is much heavier than the B16 B18 motors. Also, the Integra is 2600-2700lbs without the added H22 weight. The CRX is much lighter, maybe 2000lbs. If he spends his money right, he should be able to run him with that light of a car.

Re: need help friend talkin smack!!

Then get an H22/H23 hybrid like him and throw it in your lighter car.. Just know a B16 turbo setup will be easier to install than that engine. Oh, and if your crx has ever been in even a minor accident, don't even attempt to swap in an H-series because of the precise bolt hole measurements needed.
There are too many threads like this, go to the gigantic sticky post at the top of the page with all the engine swap info on it.

Rather, a B18 and turbo it. You'll never be able be as fast as a boosted motor going NA. Turbo is THE modification to make to all 4 cylinder motors looking for power.
