Trying to air up tires on Geo Metro

Good Morning,

I bought my kid a 1996 Geo Metro and he has a low tire. For some strange reason I can't think of the word but where you put the air pump to air it up is these silver octagon caps attached. I tried to turn the but everything turns on them. What are they and how can I get them removed? Thanks.

Terry

Sounds like the hubcap is covering the air tube. Pry it off with a tire iron from the outside edge. Or you can use a prybar, or large screwdriver.

trying to air up tire

I don't believe that they have hubcaps. its just the magnesium wheels and the thing is sticking up through it. When I go to unscrew them they just turn, rubber and metal and all. any help?

Thanks,
Terry

Its more then likely the newer fancy valve stems, you should be able to grab the bottom half with like a needle nose plier, and turn the cap with your hand or another pair of pliers, those get stuck sometimes.
Becareful not to crush it, then you will have to take it to a shop and have the stem replaced.
Hope that helps you.
