Overkill unless your dropping some big $$$$$$$$$ into the car.

Seems like a mod for the top 2% of the GP community, but Im sure there will be people that buy them just because INTENSE sells them.

If I can hit 12.9s w/ stock manifolds then I would think who ever buys these will be shooting for 10s or lower

Pricey - diffinitely, Overkill - maybe.

Will all due respect to Ripn12s...high 12s is very fast (congrats on that).

All boosted cars respond very positively to opening up the exhaust. 10 psi on manifolds is way different than 10 psi with headers. You can bet that the 10psi with headers is being generated by a smaller pulley and a whole lot more air is being moved through the engine. Bottom line is the more air/fuel you can move through an engine the more power potential it will have. With manifolds, to move the same amount of air through the engine a bigger cam or more boost will be required.

KR is going to limit the amount of boost you can run (intercooler is the way to go if you have the cash).

Of course a camshaft would be cheaper then headers and you'll start a long thread on the ClubGP board if you ask which is easier to install.

There are people running 12s with the stock cam and headers. Frank Maisano ran a 12.7xx with a stock cam, 1.9 rockers, TOGs, 3.0 pulley - no intercooler, no nitrous, stock heads, and stock 2.93 gearing (LSD). Pretty impressive. The car idles like a stocker and runs like a stocker until it gets into boost.

Lets just say headers are another option...albeit an expensive one.

Just went to the Intense site...I stand corrected. You guys are talking about something new from TOG. Damn...2" primaries, 3" crossover, and a 4" outlet!

I'll agree with ripn12s now...unless you are shooting for 10s these ARE overkill. Race motors only...doesn't even have the EGR provision.

Something my Mom said comes to mind...look before you talk.

Re: TOG big bore exhaust manifolds

Looking at the specs, before you need that kind of exahust headers you would need to have a heck of engine tunning. An engine that does not have forged pistons can not handle the air psi's that this headers are designed to handle.
Before getting to this headers, camming, PCM, Boost, fuel mixture and 20 more things should be really pumped up and tuned to really maximise the efficiency this header would bring to your car.
I just installed the SLP headers and 8.5mm MSD cables and pistons 3 & 5 chipped on a hot run with a stang. So before needing such exahust the engine has to be worked a lot internally to handle the air this exahust was designed to manage.
