turbo civic track update with VIDEO & slips... 1/8 mile

so i finally got out to the track last night.. its only an 1/8 mile, but atleast i can judge my improvement.

my best two runs were:

60' - 2.343
1/8- 9.435
MPH-78.67

60' - 2.332
1/8- 9.363
MPH-80.50

http://www.pgmfi.org/~jparker/host/943.mpg <- right click and save as

I was having very bad traction problems because the red neck at the lights wouldn't let me use the water box and i was on slicks, so you know how that went. anyways i had fun and promised time slips, so there you go.

btw, that should translate into a low low 14 or high 13 quarter mile.

holy crap man your civic sounds bad assed!!! the blow off, the rough idle...ahhh my dream SOHC...

Did he just not let you burn out at all or didnt let you burn out in water? Cause those 60 foots look pretty bad for slicks!

a water box is a small channel of water that you drive through to make the slicks wet so you can easily do a burnout to heat them up good.

the guy pointed me to the dry lane with no water, so i tried the only thing i could, since slicks need to be very warm to work properly...pull the ebrake and do a burnout which didnt work so well, because slicks get decent traction (even cold) so all i did was burnout for a very short distance and drag the back tires skidding along locked

so yes, i was very disappointed in my 60', but next time i go, i will have actual drag slicks, not road race slicks and i will make the guy let me get in the waterbox.

Re: turbo civic track update with VIDEO & slips... 1/8 mile

there is no translation into 1/4 mile. my car really starts to pick up speed the longer i get on it, the 1/8 isnt shit. I *will* run 13s.

last night, i took my maps back to nothing... tuned my vacuum from scratch using hybrid pm7/pm6 maps with tuning. I made another boost controller off the wastegate, i was losing boost from the wastegate not closing properly. i was struggling to hold 8psi and wasnt getting full spool until almost 5,000 rpm! now im hitting 10psi by about 3500 and pulling all the way to rev limit at 7800.

I should be going back to the track this week or next... the times didnt impress me all that much, i was sure i would run a 9.0 or 8.9.

we'll see.

that track sucks dick, go somewhere else

try launching at the desired rpm holding it there, you'll be more consistant like that

you should run way better especially with all that weight reduction....
