Talking Newbie

I have a chance to purchase a 2000 1500 LT Z71 EXT shrt bed, with all the bells and whistles(69,000 miles on it)for $17,200.I've driven it a couple of times and it seems pretty solid. The usual wear and tear for a 4 year old truck. The price is well below KBB,NADA,and edmonds, but I would like some opinions on whether or not I should buy it,and if its a good price.

Thanks Kevin

Re: Newbie

Kevin, are you buying from a dealer or private party? If dealer, have them provide a car fax on the vehicle and also take it for a test drive to your favorite mechanic. Don't settle for the vehicle history report alone, this doesn't have as much info as the car fax. I received close to 7 pages of information on the vehicle I purchased. I have a 99 Silverado 2500 4X4 with the 8-foot bed and extended cab. I had to settle at 15050 for this thing. I'm confident in the info provided and also the fact that I had my mechanic crawl all over it. He owns one as well so he had a good idea of what I should expect from this vehicle. I also talked with a few people that use these as fleet vehicles. You have given descent info, but what is the engine size, is it a 4X4, what are the bells and whistles? Many of the "bells and whistles" are on the base model Z71 package because of what it is. Sounds like a nice truck, and a descent price. From what I know I would say finish getting it checked out and get before anyone else. Good luck and let me know how things turn out.
