Speed Limiter

Does anyone know what the speed limiter on a 99 2.4L malibu is. I know its more than 90mph but i want to know what chevy has it set at.

Its either 105MPH or 115MPH I cannot remember. Faster than the brakes are good for, that I do know.

Modifications: KC Fog lamps, autodimming rearview mirror w/ compass&temperature, window tinting, rear speakers, front speakers, sub, synthetic ATF & aux tranny cooler.
Future modications: Dynamat interior, alloy wheels & new tires, intake, exhaust & intake manifold???

Not That You Should Drive That Fast Anyway, But If You Turn On The Hazzard Waring Light The Speed Limiter Will Not Function.

hazard lights, you say... that work on the 99 model?


My malibu got away from me a little on a long road trip and i can tell you the governor is not set at 105. I do think it's interesting the car will let you set the cruise at 105 by the way.





[obligatory safety tip] you need like a mile to stop at that speed on level ground with these brakes. plan ahead and don't be dumb.

If you really want to go that fast unplug the speedo cable from the tranny, ABS among other things will also not function properly in doing so but then again going that fast in a Malibu would mean not being too safety concerned.
