primer used as paint?

This may sound strange but has anybody ever used white sandable tamiya primer as a finished top layer of paint?
I planned to paint my fujimi wrx silver or white but after i primed it and sanded it using 3000 finishing paper it looks amazingly smooth.
I know that it has no gloss to it but can it be polished using compound or wax or maybe even a clear coat the compound?
I thought that it would be worth asking as it is such a crisp white and it looks absolutely amazingly smooth and professional.

Re: primer used as paint?

um, primer as final color. yea you can use it, you wont get that gloss affect. alot of guys for use flat paints to give it an old affect or just for that classic look.

if you want a really nice gloss white, that is smooth, then go buy gloss white, spray it and wet sand it, then clear or polish it.

Once you get the primer as smooth as you want it just clear coat it. It will work fine. Just be sure not to use any wax until after the clear coat is applied.

Tamiya White Primer can get a pretty good gloss on a smooth surface, just polish it.
