1/24 wastegates???
I did a search but nothing helpful. racinresins' site is no longer running so where can I get a 1/24 external wastegate? There's a few models I could source them from but wanted to check if anyone knows a place that makes them?

Re: 1/24 wastegates???
I did a sort of how to on these, all you need is a punch and die set. I believe we're talking about the same thing - wastegates = dump valves etc? Will try and find it.

Couldn't find the thread but found the pics. I'm no techie so i hope we're talling about the same thing.
For a dump valve/wastgate all you need is plastic sheet and punch and die set. These are quite expensive but well worth the money and have a thousand different uses. Two discs of .20 and one of .10 sheet punched out, the later is slightly bigger than the first two. Sandwiched together and that's it!

a wastegate isnt the same as a dump valve. wastegates control boost pressure, dump valves release excess back pressure when closeing the throttle.

Re: 1/24 wastegates???
I made my own for a project I am working on, similar process to the one Chris shows, it's not that difficult.

Re: 1/24 wastegates???
Yeah, I could scrathbuild it but I'd rather source a quality one from a kit I have in mind or try in track down a resin piece.

Re: 1/24 wastegates???
Besides Chris' punch-and-die sandwich example, which matches most other types of wastegate I've seen, it strikes me that the fancy Greddy one you posted looks about like a distributor with a rounded top. The kind of thing 30 seconds with a nail file would do...

If in doubt, Google will sort it out! Do a search for punch and die sets and see what you can find

Re: 1/24 wastegates???
If I was at home I could show you a picture of my turbo B18, it has a scratchbuilt wastegate. This is how I did it:
I took a lenght of sprue, it will likely be too big around but that's ok and put it in the end of an electric drill (Dremel is too fast, you'll end up melting the plastic.) With the sprue spinning in the drill, use a file to make the basic shape of the wastegate. Then, CAREFULLY use a knife to carve the fins. This will take a few tries to get right. Fortunately, we save our sprue so we have a ton, right? I then drilled a hole in the side of the wastegate and used a small velocity stack for the horn. The results can be seen on my Cusco Rx-7. Edit: The velocity stack horn is actually for a Blow Off Valve. Oops. Attach it to the exhaust manifold and put a pipe leading to the downpipe and it's a wastegate... the shapes and colors are a little different, but the parts are about the same, in mechanism and appearance.
