Angry 1991 D150 clutch problem

I replaced the clutch on my 1991 D150 Ram 4 wheel drive pickup, and am having trouble shifting now. I also replaced the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder. I have bled the system several time, but that doesn't help. If I pump the clutch, the truck shifts ok. I got the replacement parts from O'rileys. Could I have gotten the wrong slave cylinder, and the actuator rod is not long enough to give me sufficient travel to disengage the clutch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 1991 D150 clutch problem

This same thing happened to my friend's truck, but I can't remember what it was that caused it, and this was right after the clutch was done. I don't know where he is right now either, sorry dude...

Re: 1991 D150 clutch problem

if your new slave cylinder has an ordinary bleed screw on it, try back bleeding it, with a brake bal r other low pressure device. this will make sure that all the air is forced to the top of the system, and out through the master cylinder and reservoir.
This is the best way to ensure proper operation, if it is an option. I have spent way too much time using conventional bleeding procedures. Taken hours off my life that could be better spent doing nothing.
Good luck on the clutch setup, happy motoring.

And, BleedDodge, you are a fountain of wisdom tonight huh?

It wasn't something like that. It was mechanical.
