lt1 with a few bolt on's against a stock ls1?

Would a 1995 trans am ws6 auto with a CAI,shift kit,3000 stall converter, borla catback exhaust and headers be faster in the 1/4 than a stock 2001 camaro z28 with an automatic?

Would the lt1 trans am stand a chance against an ls1 camaro with a manual and an average driver in the 1/4?

Thanks.

Re: lt1 with a few bolt on's against a stock ls1?

I think with those mods the LT1 would take the LS1 but just remember that the LS1 dyno's 300 Horsepower to the wheels (most of the time) while most LT1 dyno around 255 Horsepower stock to rear wheel, Another bonus the LS1 auto has over the LT1 is that almost all Auto LS1's came with 3.23's gears while most LT1 autos came with 2.73's although mine came with 3.23's which have been changed, Also the LS1 has broader band towards higher rpm's while LT1 build up power low stock and die off faster but should be a good race. One more thing I have said it over and over again but you can expect the same number's from a healthy Auto as you can expect from a 6 speed.
Anyway a picture say's a thousand words , so this clip should be worth a million the car on the left is a auto

I feel alot better on having an auto now.I can't count how many times people have told me "autos are slow as sh*t and will never be as fast as a stick".I used to get really discouraged when modding my car and kept regreting getting an auto.
Well thanks for the vid. That sure was a fast auto!

Yup , and both cars had basically the same exact mods, I think the vid speaks for itself

What kind of mods did that auto have?

That vid needs to be shown to every person who thinks an auto can't be made faster than a stick.

Re: lt1 with a few bolt on's against a stock ls1?

I have talked to alot of people and its just people who don't know anything about racing that think a car is dismissed just because its a Auto infact 9 out of ten times in F-body races the Auto walks the stick but GM builds one hell of auto tranny and shift kits don't hurt. The automatic has alot of advantages that people dismiss cause of the fact it loses more through the drivetrain but true street and strip racer's know the fact and its just basically exhaust mods and bolt on's not head ,cam or power adder's

LOL - I love street racing! That was cool - the white TA totally blew his takeoff, but he made it up and stuck with the Camaro pretty good (if they would have done that drag on the freeway I bet the TA would have taken it).

As for the question about a basic mod-LT1 vs. a stock LS1 I think thats a tough call. Some cars are SO different from others. The fastest LS1 I've ever raced was an '02 Silver WS-6 with nothing more(so the guy said) than a K&N air filter. And THIS dude could really drive his M6. Yet I usually consider C5's my favourite game. Go figure.

I think gearing will definitely help out big time, maybe even more than just headers or exhaust. Beefing up the LT1's spark with an aftermarket coil and ignition module will help level the firing field. Its like, give the LT1 F-Body the same shit to work with as an LS1 F-Body and you'll see how similar they perform. Although swapping in LT4 heads isn't exactly a minor mod - getting roller rockers, 28 lbs/hr fuel injectors, ignition help, and a larger & lighter aluminum driveshaft all add up. As if the lightweight aluminum blocks were'nt enough, the 98+ F-cars also got lighter rotating and chasis parts too? As far as I'm concerned all LT1's should have been LT4's - the "LT4" designation shouldn't exist, its what every LT1 should have been equiped as from the factory. If the 32v LT5 hadn't been around you'd have seen LT4's right off the bat in '92. Guess GM was thinking ahead: you pay 50K for 300HP, 75k for 400HP. No 350HP for 50K! But I digress...

I never said anything about you rippling anything I just said I was surprised that I didn't see you in there as you know just as much about the LT1 as I do and could share some insite on the subject not to bash but to look at the fact and give your honest opinion , I removed the post because I didn't like how I worded it but by no means did I mean to offend any mustang owners'
