Angry MAFT problems...

SO PISSED OFF!!! I got my Y-pipe like double clamped on in every position! It is a new alluminum Y-pipe with a silicon coupler...the bad thing, it is not flared, i need to do that so it stops blowing off. But!!! the new MAS is pissing me off, I have fixed the Y-pipe blowing off with the clamps for now! But, i lose lots of power at about 3 grand and up, and the car shudders real hard, its slow as hell for some reason, and I have the settings just on the base level for injector size, for the stock injecters, (360cc)...I just need to fix it...I need some tuneing numbers, or specs, or just some damn help...Ive been working on this for a good 4 days now, and im about to just take it to a shop, im sooo mad.

Help, thanks...

Re: MAFT problems...

you also might want to check to make sure that you don't have a clogged system or any other kind of restriction after the connection. that would cause too much pressure and pop it off. I had a simaler problem on my snowmobile. turned out there was a mouse nest in it. mice can get into anything.

Re: MAFT problems...

Fuel cut maybe? What are your settings at? If by base level you mean you have all zeros, then I don't know...wish I had one of these to help..I know alot of people just set all of the numbers to 0, and then fine tune with AFCs. But that's another 500 bucks. Sorry

As far as getting the ends flared, take it to an exhaust shop or something, they can do it real cheap and that will help it stay on better.

vr4lover, stock y-pipes blow off at 15psi, not 18.

Re: MAFT problems...

Yeah, so I was bored and couldn't sleep anyway, so I did some searching. If you are getting a "jolt like your engine just blew up" then you are probably running rich, and over the injectors efficiency = fuel cut. Set all your settings to zero, check your injector settings especially, it may think you have larger injectors right now, and that would account for it trying to pump more fuel than the 360s can handle. Hopefully this will solve all the problems.

Yea im on 3si and ill check that out, thanks man. As for the base setting, there are 4 controll tuner knobs, one is marked base, which is a set number system for injector size, 1 being the smallest, all the way up to 16 settings, #2 according to the book is set for 360cc, what i assume i have, got the car used, havent looked at injectors yet, but prolly stock. second knob is for IDLE, this adjusts the amount of ain that goes intot the car at idle, ect. Then MID, this is for slight to mid range acceleration air flow, and then WOT, this is how much air is pushed in during extreme acceleration. I have the base set on 2 for my stock injector size, and the others are on 0. As for any mice in my system, lol, nope, not at all, there are no mice in my turbo piping! that would be a nasty way to go though wouldnt it? Poor lil fucking mouse, Well thanks for all the input, and if you have any more helpful hints, id be happy for you to lend them,

Thanks,
Matt

Re: MAFT problems...

MY Y pipe wasn't fitting on right so I bought a Dijon tool one for $150, looks real nice and is a sinch to take on and off unlike the old one . It comes powdercoated to match the color of most 3S cars which is awsome.

Re: MAFT problems...

I saw this and thought...wow I havn't seen Matt on here in close to a year...then I checked the date and realized...

Please don't bring back old threads.

If you have questions about the MAFT...start a new thread. In general you want to hook it up, set it according to your injectors and fine tune from there. We don't have any of the specifics of your car, so I can't really say much more than that, unless you start a new thread and tell us more about your specific car, what version MAFT you have, injector size, etc.
