95 gt question

i recently purchased a 95 gt. The fog lights didnt work, so i figured the switch on the console was bad, or else the lights. When i looked under the console, i discovered they had unplugged them. There were two female ends to which i could plug the fog light switch into. I guessed and got it right first try. I was wondering if anyone knows what the other one is for? I have the fog light switch and then a little coin holder thingy. Is there a package where there is a switch in place of the coin holder, and is that what the extra female connector is for? It has wires going to it and everyhting. thx!

Re: 95 gt question

The other female connector is for a convertible setup. I'm guessing you don't have a convertible. There is a way to make your fog lights work independently from your headlights. I did it to my car and it involves using wires out of that other plug. If you want I can give you a link so you can do it. It looks much nicer with just fog light. You don't even need your parking lights on

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/fog2.htm

that's the link to the article on how to do it. The link you're getting isn't the one I used but at the bottom of it, it has another link to the original article written on how to do it and it gave a diagram that I understood better so take your pick on whichever one to use.

^this link is for a bunch of cheap "how-to's" for your mustang... it has some pretty interesting stuff yet some stuff that you probably already knew or could figure out yourself but take a look and see if you find something you might want to do to your stang...

enjoy

Re: 95 gt question

oh yea, make sure you leave plenty of wire for you to play with.. I didn't leave enough and tried to jam my fog light switch and convertible switch back it and broke my fog light switch in 3 pieces... but I fixed it with a cigarette lighter spring (trimmed to size), super glue and a piece of tape. I'm such a genius... although since yours is a hard top... you shouldn't have the problem with jamming both of them switches in... but for anyone with a convertible that's going to do the fog light rewiring thing...

Re: 95 gt question

yea it's a lot easier on a hardtop b/c you don't have to use the other connector for anything... lol, my process was tedious. Glad you got it to work. I have the only Mustang, my year model, in my town with independent fog lights... but of course no one even realizes that it's not supposed to have them so they're just like... nice stang
