Melted power terminal on amp.
My amp shut off when I was driving so when I stopped I looked and the area and plastic around the power hookup was melted. Everything was grounded fine and the fuse is ok coming from the battery...but now even when I touch the amp with the power cable it doesnt arc. I have no idea why this would happen. Any input would help.

Re: Melted power terminal on amp.
What amp, whats the wattage, what gauge power/ground wire are you using, what type of connectors and how long of a run is the cable? Sounds like a terminal on a cheap amp - but without knowing which amp - hard to tell.

Re: Melted power terminal on amp.
Youre right though, its a Legacy amp. The 1600 watt model. I have 4 gauge going for power and ground and I just have the wire screwed down by itself. The cable is running Im guessing about 10 feet.

Re: Melted power terminal on amp.
Me and my friend did some soldering magic and got it to work, but its not really in there nice and secure. Hopefully it holds out for a bit anyway.
