small oil leak and slipping clutch
Ok, I'm pretty new to AF so I'll describe my CRX best I can without writing a novel... 1990 Si 180k miles (almost) on chassis, about 90k miles on swapped D16 with stock internals (possible cam?), AEM cam gear, Unorthodox pulley set, dc ceramic coated header, Injen cold air intake w/ AEM water by-pass (goes to front bumper... cut hole for direct air flow), Autometer Air/Fuel guage... generally perfect readings after warm up (I live in upstate SC and air density varies due to rapid altitude change), 2.5" catco hi-flow cat, 2" aluminized custom to 2.25" loop passed rear axle to Arospeed RS muffler out of tip location (sounds correct... throaty with cooler air... sounds like weedwacker with hotter air), Jacobs Ignition w/ external coil, secondary trigger, 6 plug modified distributor cap, 8.5 mm wires, NGK plugs, powder coated valve cover and dress up, Arospeed coil overs, worn stock struts, and I think my intake is ported. I bought the car cheap with high compression pistons, but replaced the motor and dizzy when it fried and toasted my exhaust and undercarriage. Now for the problem... my D16 is leaking a small amount of oil from what looks like the headgasket (not valve cover gasket!) from the tranny side. People keep telling me to replace the dizzy o-ring first, but it's quite dry there... it really doesn't look like there is any oil leaking from it. If I ever get any $ I want to get the exedy organic clutch and ACT 11.9lb. flywheel combo cuz stupid me couldn't afford to replace it when I swapped engines. My front motor mount bushing is shot too which causes the engine to move when hitting throttle. I'm not a mechanic so I really need to save pennies with all this. I've been doing a lot of stuff myself lately... live and learn. Anyway, if and when I do get to replace the clutch, should I pull the head off and machine it and replace the head gasket. Is there anybody who lives in the Greenville, SC area that can look under my hood and tell me what is going on? It feels like I'm not losing compression. My clutch is starting to slip, but double clutching can still get me to 60mph really quick. My tires are pretty shot on my 9lb. stock 1986 14" Si rims so I'm not going that fast. If anybody has any advice I'd love to hear it. Oh yeah, my car looks like hell but I can't see what it looks like when driving it. Also, I rally dirt roads... crazy but extremely fun! Thanks for any help.
