Heres a story!
I got me a imaculate 98 honda magna about a month ago. But before that I tried to buy a new 04 honda aero, payments wont to bad, but to finance I had to have colition, which for a 19 year old with a clean record (thanks to lawyers) was 1100 a year and 200 down. Not good. So i got a bank loan and went off to find a nice used bike. After a few days I got up with a friend of my dads who was selling his bike. We talked for a while and agreed on 4300 b/c it looked great. Only one scratch at gas tank lid, probly from pump handle. I thought it was good deal b/c it only had 10000 miles and new they are 7500+ I checked it out and the front tire had some cracks around the rim, so it dropped 200 there. I was about to take it for a ride, but couldnt get it to stay running. He said it was cold natured, so after a while I new it was something else, b/c it was almost 70 with a mild wind. When I got it going good I put it on the rode, at first It didnt want to run 100% but after abount 10 min. it was going great, real great. So when I got back i told him the engine need a little work and he agreed so after a discussion on how much it cost to fully service and get the engine running with out 30 min of excercise before a ride, I left 3400$ poorer but a bike richer. Any way it has been giving me trouble since i got it but always got going after a while untill tuesday, when i left the key on and the battery went dead. I left it charging all day and before i went to bed I gave it hell trying to get it started to no avail. Wendsday I tried for a while but nothing changed, it was turning but on combustion. So I decided to take it to the local Honda shop, but I decided to check the fuel lines and filter and sparkplugs b/c I thought the problem was one of them, I could smell that I flooded it a few times so I new it was getting fuel, So I took out the plugs which were not very easy to get too. They were as black as night. So I ran to Auto Zone, but they didnt have them, advance auto parts had to order them but The Honda shop had them for 27$ Thats about 7$ a piece, but what can You do. Any way once I got them in it cranked right up on first try and ran like a brand new off the showroom floor vette. Any way Thoes bad plugs cost me 27$ to replace but saved me 900$ in the long run. I am sorry if the story bored you but right now I feel pretty good. I dont think I can bear to tell him how much it cost me to fix the bike.
