Advice for track racing...
I want some advice for the track on Sunday...I really want to get a good launch because if you guys were payin attention to my posts the person I really want to beat on Sunday is an SiR just like mine with a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) which means he'll probably get a better launch than me...When I launch on the street its usually at like 3500 or 4000 and its minimal spin...I pop the clutch and keep my foot on the same level that I revved to until I feel the tires grip then I floor it and go through the gears shiftin at 8100(thanks mex)...Is this the right way?...any better ways or words of advice are welcome

sounds about right to me.
by minimal spin do you mean just a quick chirp? what do your rpm's drop to when it catches traction?

Re: Advice for track racing...
Your welcome B1SiR6A
As you may know man, ive tried so many different ways to get better times at the track, of course the launch is the tricky part. Launching at 3500-4000 rpms is NOT optimal believe me. The best times ive goten at the track is revving my engine to around 6000-6700 rpms, and not dumping the clutch. Releasing it semi fast, so wheels barely spin and you dont stay at the line. Try launching at around 6000 or a little higher and feather the clutch, not too slow, not to fast. Remember the guy who got 13.6 out of a s2000 stock, guess how he launched, same as i got my best time. He launched at around 6800 feathering the clutch. Good luck man. Spank him!

Re: Advice for track racing...
i launch at 2,100rpm and still get wheel hop, gotta love torque!
best advice is to go every week, practice makes perfect, my 1st run ever at the track was a 15.4 now its consistant 14.7's thats 7 tenths of a second with just driver improvement and launching so high will not always benefit you you have to take in account your power and how well you put it to the ground, like the b16 and f20c have little torque for the cars they are put in therefore you can launch higher, im not saying your wrong Mex, just wanted to put it up here for everyone incase they wanted to try with their car

I find that the best rpm to launch at all depends on the weather conditions so you'll have to experiment with that. To get your best possible 1/4 mile time I suggest power shifting, it really does make a difference.

Re: Advice for track racing...
The thing about launching so high is that the beginning of the track down here is this cement/concrete type thing and its not really as grippy as the street and im scared i'll spin like a mutha on that if I launch at 6000. I thought it was bad to launch in VTEC ?...and feathering the clutch off the line wont damage it..im really sensitive about that being a beginning manual driver n stuff...
Edit...yea my rpms do drop its not a little chirp its more like 2 wheel revolutions maybe 3 then im off...so the rpms drop about 1k - 2k

I drive a 2000 ITR so I also have the whole high reving vtec thing and with my experiences at the track I've found that launching from around 3000 - 4000 gets me the best launch with the minimum amount of wheel hop. Again, usually the colder it is the lower you can rev to.

Re: Advice for track racing...
LoL yea...We all watch it trust me, even some of the guys who dont like to admit it. I was watching it once and browsing through af and I realized it was funny so I made it my sig....Still waiting for some feedback...Will feathering the clutch off the line damage it?...and have any of you ever seen this concretet type thing im talking about on the tracks over there?

Re: Advice for track racing...
Dumping the clutch will fuck up your car harder than feathering. Feathering is just as you start accelerating from a stop light, but doing it faster.
