header and x pipe combo on 99 Cobra?

I have a 99 Cobra and i've been holding off on buying headers and an x pipe.. What flows better and gives bigger gains an X pipe or H pipe? does one stay quieter than the other? also, how much worse are shorty headers compared to long tube headers? what kind of gains would i see from long tube headers and an x pipe? i tryed mustangexhaust.com, but i'm still torn...

Re: header and x pipe combo on 99 Cobra?

That's the combo I want. I know that long tubes help you a lot more on top end but I'm not sure the hp difference between long tubes and shorties although I am pretty sure that long tubes are better all around. In another thread they were saying how they think that H-pipes sound better but X-pipes flow better = more hp. The sound is more of an opinion and I love the way my X-pipe sounds so I was going to stick with it. In my opinion that's a good choice. Just wish I had the funds to afford that combo on my car right now

yea thats what i've been told.. X pipes flow better but H pipes are louder.. If you think about it that doesn't really make sense cause if theres more flow wouldn't that make it louder.. i dunno, i guess i'll go with the x pipe cause its said to give more HP..

^yea that's what I was thinking too but I guess it gives it more of an echo sound b/c of the H-pipe design... instead of flowing straight through with less resistance

For your 99, I would get LT's with an X-pipe.

For any 4.6 I would get LT's there is no room against the body to make a good equi-shorty and regular shorties are a waste of money. Especially a 4V motor which really winds up will benefit from LT's. Only complaint 4.6 guys have of the X-pipe is the much raspier noise it makes. Some love it some hate it.

You get what you pay for. Before I sold my mustang I was thinking bassai LT's w/matching x-pipe and their quiet thunder catback.
