Cool room for speakers???

I recently upgraded from a '97 RS to a '00 Z-28. In the RS, I had a 10in base tube and my amp in the trunk/hatch with 6.5 components in the front and pioneer 6.5's in the back. NOW, I want to upgrade the stock system in my Z-28, but I don't know where to put anything. I know I will have to buy 6x9's for the back b/c my old car had 6.5's. The base-tube is out b/c I have T-tops and the place designed to hold them basically takes up the center of the trunk. Where can I put two 10in spkrs? I need my back seat, and I only see a little corner in the trunk that is empty. I have seen MANY guys w/ Camaros, w/ T-tops, w/ pretty good sounding systems. Where did they put them? Who can help me? Also, I heard from a friend that all radios(rcvrs) don't work with the controls on the steering wheel. Is there a way I can tell if my other one will work? Thanks for your help :-)

are you talkin about 10in subs? if so just build a box to fit in the hatch, take out the t-top holder and place it there. throw the t-tops in the back seat. thats what i did for my 2 15 inch subs (well my friend built the box)
orrrrrrrrr throw them in the side slot which was already advised.... Ive heard some good things.

Thumbs up Sexxxxxxxyyyyy!!!

Genospyde:Bwahahaha! I WISH I needed space for a blower!!!

bigmike: the boxes at subthump.com is WAY SEXY!

That's exactly what I want. BUT, I don't understand how it works. Does it flip up and down or what? I thought the stock flap just sits on the plastic trim. How does it hold up like 20 lbs? So would I need to get a rear wall amp mount, or do I put it somewhere else? THANKS so much for your help everyone! I didn't even know they made these!!!

Re: Sexxxxxxxyyyyy!!!

hmmm i dont think they will flip up and down...like the one with the slot for the t-tops--if they could just flip up and down then there wouldnt be a slot in the box for the tops...right? maybe they do though? you can put your amp where ever

Question Woops

My Bad! I didn't go by the link. I meant the MILHOUSE BOX. It's from the same site, just one up on the vehicle specific menu. It says it flips up, but I don't see how...isn't it heavy???? It looks so great though. THAT is what I want.

I feel your pain. I thought about this problem as soon as I bought my car. I lived with the Monsoon for a little while, but, I do need to go bigger. Plus I DO NOT want to have to put the T-tops in the back seat. I did A LOT of reasearch and I'm going with Blaupunkt speakers. They have a mounting depth of 2". So I'm going to make a custom box out of polycarbonate and mount them on the shelf behind the back seat. I did the measuring and it should work out nicely. If your interested, check out this link.

Hope I helped.
