87 vs. 89 octane for V6

Hey gang, I have a 1994 V6 Firebird 3.4L and I'm wondering which octane gas I should use. I've had it for about 2 and a half years now and I've always used 87 octane, but about a month ago I switched to 89 to see if I could notice a difference. I think there is a slight performance difference but I can't quite tell. I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra $.10 (about $1.40 more to fill up than the 87) with my engine. I mean, $1.40 isn't really that big of a deal but if I can save it and buy some Code Red Mountain Dew or something then I might as well. :> Anyway, thanks for any input.

Re: 87 vs. 89 octane for V6

its definitely not worth the cash. i might be able to jump on board if you had the 3.8, cause they have slightly higher compression, but not with the 3.4. its not needed and is almost overkill. the higher octane could actually hurt performance if you go up to 93. unless your timing is advanced i would say keep your money...
