Passat revving up when shifting
My wife and I just bought a '99 Passat, V6, with a manual. It runs great except for one strange thing I noticed. When upshifting the engine tends to rev up a bit, especially between the lower gears. It also takes quite a few seconds to drop the revs. This makes it a pain when upshifting, as it tends to jerk unless you hold the clutch in until the revs drop off. If anyone has any experience with this and could shed some light it would be much appreciated.

Re: Passat revving up when shifting
could be your step motor
or one of the sensors. wanna get them checked with a VAG computer.

Re: Passat revving up when shifting
I've heard many people have had success solving a variey of symptoms with a good cleaning of the throttle valve, seems alot of dirt builds up in there. Just don't disconnect it electrically as if you do you will have to re-adapt it to the ECM with a VAG or similar scan tool. Some just remove the rubber air pipe & clean with a toothbrush & FI/throttle body cleaner, others remove it from the throttle body to get better access.
