engine building contest..need funding..lol

I'd like to do this..probably never happen but it would be fun. Get me, Iroc, and who ever else that can build an engine and lets have an engine building contest. Each contestent will have $6000 to spend, and will have identacle blocks, lets say a chevy 283 to keep it interesting..350 would be to easy. We'll each have 7 days to complete the engine and it must be running on the last day. We'll put them in identacle cars..same tranny and gears and every thing and the best time wins...now wouldn't that kick ass.

Re: engine building contest..need funding..lol

I'll document everything for you all - I got some video equipment, digital cameras, wireless web/video cameras we could use. Maybe we could get some sponsors? A few places could pool in and donate the equipment (aka engine and cars) to us in return we slap their logo's all over the place (both on the cars, images and video [throw in a few 'commercials' or lines like "here we have our Blah blah blah graciously donated to use by XYZ Corpand..." and scrolling text] and banner pages/ads on the 'dedicated modification' site for this project). I can host the site no problem but if we're going to be doing some heavy duity streaming that may be an issue as I already host for several clients.

Anyone have any connections either a bank, repo-center, store etc that may be willing to hold some type of fund-raiser in our name. Maybe we can give them X% of each fund-raiser? Or we could all put save X$ a month for several months until we have enough for this.

Re: engine building contest..need funding..lol

hehaha! I have a good idea as to what some companies/corporations want! Most local places love advertisements as long as we can bring them clients. It's all about the numbers; find a store that has a LOT of camaro specific/recommended parts etc.
As for the equipment, I just happen to have access to a few digital cameras, several web cams and a camcorder or two plus the hardware and software to convert them into digital media. The web hosing, web design, web-email and email hosting stuff is something I do on the side. I only have one real paying client right now but I hope to get more over time . Getting the space and web layout together isn't too difficult.
My friend mentioned something like this a while ago. He wanted to get some of the folks in the DC/VA/MD area together for 'Camaro Crew' get togethers where we have BBQ's, help out each other with our car problems and possibly offer some type of restoration, modification service to folks with f-body vehicles. We can advertise via the website, ads in the local paper and signs here and there on the road (ideally near gas stations ). I'm sure most of us have full times jobs and a family to tend to, so of course the 'Camaro Workshop' idea will most likely have to wait until we can get some serious money or serious clients who will front the cash for us to hook up their cars. After that it's just a matter of setting aside time to order the parts and perform the install & testing.

(Think of this as a Monster Garage meets West Coast Customs type setup. I love the discovery channel!)

I thought it was a grand idea except, I don't know ayone around here (except for IROC) that A) has an f-body vehicle, B) is on the board and C) is interested in doing something like this. I met some guy a week ago that has an automatic v8 '89 firebird (I think he said it had 190hp). I've also noticed an IROC-Z parked outside a house not too far from the previous guy but A) I don't know these people and B) don't know if they just own the car or want to customize it etc.

So like I said, if we could get some sponsors to donate a few hundred bucks that would be grand. Anyone else up for this or have ideas?
