I was wondering if anyone heard how a vortech supercharger handles or works on a B16? looking at getting one of those with and without the backcooler. Thanks a lot

Re: B16 with Vortech?
One of the Team Sol guys tossed one on his Del Sol VTEC. Pretty good numbers.

Please, don't waste your money on a vortech. Vortech's make boost proportional to RPM's, that is, as RPM's increase, boost increases. A turbo on the other hand will make full boost much lower in your RPM range and give you much more useable horsepower and torque. You see tons of vortech's and such on big displacement cars like mustang's, camaros, vettes, etc, and it works on them because they have a lot more torque to begin with, and they have lower redlines. So If you have a car that spins to 5500 RPM's and is making 10 pounds of boost at peak, you might be making 5 pounds of boost at 3000 RPM's. If you have a motor that spins to 8500 RPM's and you are making 10 pounds of boost at peak, you may only have 3.5 pounds of boost at peak. See where I'm getting at? Go turbo.

Re: B16 with Vortech?
Vortech are the most money you can spend, for the least amount of gain.

), and early in the 90's they had a fiasco with the P600 impellers hitting cases. Right now vortech has YS- and YSi-Trim blowers that are affordable, let you keep all accesories, and will make more power than you know what to do with, so I see no reason to go to procharger for a street car.
