Cam removal
I wanted to have a vavle job done on my '86 2.3 and just about have the head off. When i called machine shops in my area they all asked if i would remove and install the cam. They all wanted to tack on another $60-100 dollars to do it. I've never removed or installed a cam and these machine shops made it sound very difficult. Is this something i should just do myself, or is there a reater chance i'd mess something up? I know there are a few sets of bearings and i dont know what holds the in. the haynes manual didnt scare me, someone please tell me what to do! thanks

If you've never swapped a cam before then I would let them do it. It's not really that hard, but you do have to know what your doing. You have to be careful not to knick the bearing, make sure to degree the cam properly and such.
