Well, usually (not always) people with larger engines like V8's tend to get Superchargers, and with 4bangers and some V6's they will usually get Turbos.... Turbo's take time to spool up to build pressure so that you can have a higher mixture of air and fuel to create more power. The smaller the engine, the quicker its gonna reach its max PSI. Thats why you will see a lot of imports with 4-bangers have primarily turbos on them. I'm not sure exactly on how Superchargers work(I'm just getting into bigger engines) I just know they use belts instead... Take C5 Corvette's for instance; they have a 5.7L engine(i think), you wont see many if any turbo setups for them anywhere, but you can find Supercharged setups.
I've only become a car fanatic within the last year so I don't know if I'm entirely correct but, to the best of MY knowledge I would suggest goin with a Supercharger. Turbo = high end(top speed), smaller engines Supercharger = low end(better launch), bigger engines Hopefully someone who knows more about superchargers will post more info.

Re: want 400+hp on a v8 4 bolt.HELP?
It all depends on what you are looking for. Superchargers and for lower reving engines, the power is always there (no spool up time) not as much hp as you can get from a Turbo ( generaly speaking) Turbos are used on higher reving
engines (generaly smaller DOHC engines) Corvette Did produce a Twin Turbo Vette (Bad ASS) What Size Block is it?
