Blow off valve...

i plan to turbo my KA motor in about 3 months and im trying to put everything together. im rebuilding the bottom end and plan to run around 8 psi daily and 10 psi racing. my question is what BOV would everyone suggest? i want it to be loud enough to where everyone knows im turbo but not so loud its annoying. thanks for the help. i know im asking alot of questions but you guys are helpful anyway. thanks.

SARD R2D2 is the best BOV, period. Superior response and intoxicating sound.

SARD R2D2 is the same as a Blitz BOV.

off topic...but...

holy shit...you have the two cars I want...an s14 zenki w/ se trim...and an mkII mr2...the mr2 is an n/a though right? I really want a turbo 91/92 or an n/a with a jdm 3rd gen 3sgte.

Hoping to get one or the other...an n/a mr2 is close to me and I've got over half of the money needed saved so far...I'm just not sure I want to get it since it may be too slow for me...what's your opinion?

sorry for the ot...back to your bov discussion...Any BOV will be loud enough to show off that you have a turbo setup installed...All that I've come across have been fairly annoying and I probably wouldn't want my car to have one despite the supposed benefits...many people agree there is little benefit for the [relatively] low power that most bov-equipped cars put out (under 300rwhp).

Re: Blow off valve...

The ARC isnt loud...You can barley hear it outside. Seems like the ARC performs better than the blitz BOV...but its the same as the sard one...

Re: Blow off valve...

klohiq: Its a 91 MR2 Turbo with a 93 JDM 2nd gen with LSD.

Personally, i like the HKS SSQV BOV. Thats what i've been using and i haven't had a problem. If you don't want the loud noise you can always recirculate it back to the intake stream. On the MR2 the BOV is loud but on the 240sx, the HKS SSQV make a subtle sound. Very nice.

You haven't had any problems with the SSQV? How much boost are you running? How long have you had it? No leaks whatsoever? One of the JSPECs said it's absolutely the worst in performance/durability (slow to release pressure, breaks quickly), though it does arguably have the best sound...

A turbo mr2 that isn't a t-top...pretty nice ...not a huge fan of those rims, but the 240 has really nice rims...

I've also heard alot of bad things about the HKS SS. If you like that one, then get the original Sequential BOV, it's alot better.

What's this you guys say about the SARD being the same as the Blitz? Is SARD a subcontractor of Blitz, or are they the Japanese name (like Greddy/Trust)?

This doesn't look look at all like this ...
