Suspension (camber)

K. I've posted before and havent had to many replies.... so im attempting again.... please answer. K i gotta 92 lude and am gonna probly drop it w/ sportlines and illuminas. first off... u think thats a good setup? k. second questions about camber. I know im gonna need a kit... but i dont wanna pay hundreds to get it installed. im gonna install the springs/shocks myself and wanna do the camber myself too. Is it hard to do... is it do-able? lol. please if anyone can help... speak up. thanks

I have the sprotlines / illuminas and not only does it look oh so sexy but it handles good too. I am gonna get my camber kit installed this week after I put it on an alignment machine - BTW I am gonna do the washer trick on the rear and probably some EZ A Arms for the front. I will let you know how long it takes me, I think it will be easy

just buy em and read the instructions homes. if you do your springs and struts you should be able to do that too

quick question PhiberOptik, how long have you had that set up? the sportlines with the illuminas? cause i've heard horror stories that people buy thoes or KYB AGX's and put them on a drop lower than 1.8" and they blow in a couple months.
For the KYB's I believe that their warrenty becomes void with a drop lower than 1.5", I'm not sure about the Illuminas
But I think they are both stock replacement's.

don't know y they would be any different in longevity than the tokico blues and that's what i have. and i have a 2+ inch drop and i've had mine for a year

...well i might be wrong, but if you dont believe me just do a search in the forum. Im not just making things up.
I guess your one of the few that the blues work for with a 2" drop

Illuminas are made to handle a good drop, not 4" but 1.5-3 is ok. KYBs warranty is voided after a 1.5 because people are idiots, drop too low and say they weren't so they can replace what their dumbass's broke. Of course you could always look into Bilsteins, JIC, Tein, other shock also, and don't forget, if you are real serious and know what your doing, you can have the shocks revalved to meet exactly what you want from them.

That set up you are talking about, how low are you going? What are the spring rates? Do you ahve other suspension like sway bars?

One thing about camber though, it doesn't cause noticable tire were, unles it is over -3 degrees, and even then, i isn't bad wear. The real killer of tires it you toe settings. Once you drop it, have an alignment shop do a complete front and rear, with factory toe specs and you'll be fine without the added cost of a camber kit.

The real reason people get camber kits, well the reason the make them, is because when you drop too much you tire can start wearoing on your upperball joint, and destroy it and the tires, especially if you drive hard in a turns. Camber kits, move the knuckle closer to where it is supposed to be.

As far as the back, never waste your money on a kit, the washer trick is fine.

i have the sprint springs with tokico blues and i've had that setup for a year now. no other suspension mods
