Whining...its pissin me off

Okay, when I'm listening to my music in my car, I get a whine, and it fluxuates with my RPM's, and sometimes is really really loud, others its quiet, sometimes it will be loud, then fade out really quick, stay gone for a while, then come back in and be quiet, or loud. Really, theres no method to the madness...its crazy. Its makin me mad tho. Ive gotten a new RCA cable, that didnt help, and I've tried regrounding it, that didnt help either...What do i do, im going crazy here!!!

Re: Whining...its pissin me off

I have the same problem in my civic. the locol shop told me that the system needs to be grounded better and that getting a filter would help also.

Re: Whining...its pissin me off

try separating the power wire from the rca's, this should fix the problem. i use to suffer from this insanity when installing my first amplifier a long time ago, after some trial and error i discovered that by separating the the power wire and the rca's, it works fine thereafter. if u do have an amp, make sure the wires are atleast a foot apart, or u can do what i did, have the power wire go on the driver side, and have the rca's routed through the center counsel

heres an article on car amplifier installation to help u and any one else out.

http://www.caraudiohelp.com/how_to_i...tall_a_car_amp

the one that should help u pertains to instruction #11, basically telling u the same thing as i said, hope this helps.

paul d, don't get offended by what i wrote since it wasn't ment to be, although i do know a bit on car stereo installation. once a person installs one correctly, it tends to be very simple the next time around, heck this piece of info might even be new to u.

Re: Whining...its pissin me off

yeah either those guys are new, or they are plain lazy. how much did they charge u for the install?, if it was a lot, i would bring my car over there and have them do it since u paid for it, this time tell them how its suppose to be done.

Actually, I got it done like 3 years ago, and I never had the problems with it until like 4 or 5 months ago, it pisses me off. And I've told them about it, but since the warrantee is out, they wont even look at my car without chargin me 70 bucks..talk about gettin ripped off!

you can do a search ..... we go thru this quite often. Basically, the problem is this - the whine stays roughly the same volume, irregardless of the volume of the stereo. To take it to the extreme, let's say you have the volume to zero. There is virtually NOTHING running thru that power wire, but alas, the noise remains constant in volume. Must be something else. The truth is, there are a LOT of things that cause "noisy" currents in a car. Moving the RCA cables away from these points will help considerably, using UTP's (unsheilded twisted pairs) will help even more.

K heres my problem up to date, I pulled my old RCA cables, and I put in one that a shop gave me as their test RCA's to see what that could do for me, basically because when I was trying to remove the ones they put in, they had them rigged in there in such a way that caused them to get damaged when removing. Anyways, I got the test ones in there, and checked my ground, its 8 gauge wire, and its down behind my back seat, on the body of the car, and I sanded the paint off so its all nice shiny metal. It looks like its grounded right, I moved the RCA's to the opposite side of the car, and the noise was still there. I'm gonna go my first paycheck and get another good RCA cable, I just dont have the money right now, but I dont ever know if I should bother at this point. Is this always going to be there, or what? I mean, I'm lookin at gettin a smaller amp, and a new sub(one grounded itself out a while back so I disconnected it), and new wiring altogether. Im so fed up with this whine, I need help, someone..lol

instead of buying new RCA's, you can make your own. Just buy some RCA ends and solder them on the end of either cat5 cable or 22 gauge wires that are twisted together.
