why does my v6 take long time to start when cold?
and i'm not talking 20 below, i'm in oklahoma, so cold means it just sat for a buncha hrs in 50-60 degrees. it will just turn and turn and turn and finally catch on, shudder like heck and start - or not, turn the key off, then back on to start and it comes right on. temperatures went up to 80's and it seems to start almost instantly now. fuel pump? anything to do with plugs? do i need to worry about it until winter? am i wearing the starter/engine out? it was freezing just a coupla weeks ago and it wasn't really any different (worse) then...

what year of camaro? turn the key to the start position and listen for the fuel pump to turn on, the relay might not be turning the fuel pump on for the initial prime. also, i dont think a car will start until there's oil pressure but i'm not sure, there's a sensor wont turn on the fuel pump until there's 8psi of pressure i think.

Re: why does my v6 take long time to start when cold?
whats your battery voltage???? cold weather saps away CCA's, so if your batter is marginal, then cold weather will make it too weak to fire the spark plugs, as weather warms up, the batter gets its power back, and can fire the plugs easily. if you got fuel, then its a spark problem, and what i just described is a very normal problem.

Re: why does my v6 take long time to start when cold?
Well the fuel pump should come on as soon as you turn the key. It will turn on and pressurize the system then shut off untill the pressure drops. The oil pressure sensor will not cause the engine not to start, nor will it cause the engine to shut off. I had a dead sensor for a year and the car ran fine so that's not an issue. Now, cold air is denser than warm air, wouldn't make since, but cold air is just like more air. But like I said it wouldn't make since that "to much" air is getting sucked in and subsaquently(sp) not enough fuel, especialy not in 50-60 degree weather. But on the subject of temperature, your coolent temp sensor helps to controll the fuel system, if that's faulty and cold temps makes it act funny, then that could be a problem. Or if when cold your injectors are sticking. But that wouldn't make sense either. Run it for codes, and check and make sure all of your sensors are on good.
