Best RX-7 FC Model?

What is the best RX-7 FC (second generation) model available?

Tamiya HAD an RX-7 kit, how is it's detail compared to the Fujimi kits?
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?TAM24060

Is any one kit better suited to building a factory stock RX-7, or are they all the same in typical Fujimi, "Many boxes for 1 kit" fashion?

ALSO where can I find some decent reference pictures? I'm trying to find some pics of an 89 Turbo, but good pics scarce it seems.

I have the tamiya Cabriolet and the Initial D Savanna model. The Initial D one is pretty lame, but its still kinda neat. The Tamiya Cabriolet one has nice engine detail and looks a lot more realistic. Of course the Cabriolet is the turbo 'vert from japan, but its still pretty nice.

I have the factory stock version of Fujimi's FC. It was originally motorized, so the chassis underside and suspension detail is non existant, and the luggage compartment floor is WAY to high (in order to accomidate batteries I assume). Having said that, the kit has some good points. Other than the previously mentioned luggage compartment, the interior is more detailed that Tamiya's (although it represents an automatic equipped car). Also, the kit comes with two sets of seats, three steering wheels (two factory and one aftermarket), aftermarket mirrors, a funky notchback hatch if you want to mess up the car's clean lines, and perhaps best of all, a set of RE Amemiya style headlight covers.

As others have said, Tamiya's kit is much more detailed, and includes features that some may like and others may despise, such as opening headlights and sunroof. I am planning to build my Tamiya kit with some of the interior bits from the Fujimi kit particularly the door panels, which Tamiya messed up.

Not sure if this matters, but both kits have a 2+2 interior- nothing some work can't fix.

Anyway, sorry for the length of this post- hope it was helpful

Jeff

Re: Best RX-7 FC Model?

Tamiya's kit is by far and away the better, infact its one of their best from Tamiya era of putting engines in most of their road cars. Fujimi's kits is not bad in the looks department, I built the same kit Jeff mentions above many years ago and as he mentions you get a shit load of extras for the parts box - i've still got most of them! Their kit is also your only real option as Tamiya's is discontinued unless you can track one down.
