10 Second Sol
what would I need to make my 15 second sol to a ten second sol? Just tell me what I would need. i.e. engine, exhaust, ignition, fuel, etc. everything that would make my car a high performer, and also an efficient driver for daily activities. I know there is a way to have high performance and good mileage/smog output. I want to know what I would need. That's it. Thanks.

Re: 10 Second Sol
You won't make your car into a 10 second Del Sol unless you turn it into a legitimate drag car which would not be street legal. Stop watching fake movies.
Here's a 10 second Del Sol: http://www.geocities.com/hsviper/ There are Civic hatches where I live with turbo'd GSR swaps and they're still running 12's at the drag strip which is a very respectible time.

You can make a street legal 10s Del Sol, but it'd be cheaper to buy a 1001hp Bugatti Veyron 16.4.
I've seen a high 9 sec. Supra that was street legal, but be prepared to spend big money, and you can forget about A/C. If you really want a 10 sec Honda convertable and you have a ton of money, start with an NSX or drop a C32 into a Sol.

Re: 10 Second Sol
how far can you turbo these B engines anyway? i mean in a 2500 lb car you would only need like around 400hp to be 10 seconds.

Re: 10 Second Sol
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. (except plastic fork) There is no such thing as a ten second honda anything that is street legal. And don't even try to compare a sol to a supra. They have inline 6's which equals massive torque. They can be easily moddified for major HP gains. and a 2500 lb car with 400 HP would run a mid to low 12 seconds in the quarter. I have done the calculations for my sol. The VTEC model is 2350 lbs by the way.

BTW, the C32 is a 6. Stock = 290hp - Rebuilt with turbo(s) and nitrous = ???hp. Perhaps over 600. Put it in the trunk and the Sol is RWD. 600+hp, <2000 lbs, RWD. The point I was trying to make, which was obviously lost on you, is that its more fantasy than fact. It'll never happen, unless pAcosol1 is Bill Gates' very favorite nephew, but you are too quick to say "Wrong". Try understanding a post before you reply.

Re: 10 Second Sol
i got what you were saying, i just like to stay down here in reality, you know the real world. There is no need to put those kinda ideas in a newbie's head. Next thing you know, he'll be out trying to save up money for all this crap thinking he can do it then he'll find out the harsh reality that it was all a waste of money. I wasn't attacking you, i was just looking out for the Fast and Furious kids and trying to educate them at the same time.

Re: 10 Second Sol
y'all simmah down nah!
End of story, if you can get a 10 second sol, while it won't weigh as much as stock, it will probably be close with all the turbo/extra equipment you have to put in. It'll be maybe 200/250 lbs lighter. And it definitely won't be street legal. I cringe at saying this, but if you want a street legal 10 second car, either go for domestics or the other imports. Hondas won't do it and still be street legal. I've seen full drag sols (read - tube chassis, turbo k series motor, fiberglass shell, interior is just a shifter, a cf seat, a harness, and a steering wheel, roll cage, drag slicks) that are running 9s. If you want a fast car, a sol isn't the way to go. The reason everyone calls them del Slows is because they are slow in comparison to other hondas. They're heavy. Most other hondas can be stripped down to just a shell. The del sol never can be because of the targa top. If your stock weight was 2200/2100 lbs like it is in the hatchs and crx's, then you would have something to work with. But the 94 VTEC model weighs in at 2491 stock, then add a person in there and you're probably somewhere around 2650-2700 depending on how big you are. My 1987 ford ranger made entirely of steel and other metals weighs 3500. So with the sol, you've got a lot of weight to be pulled by a 4 banger. You want 10 seconds, you're gonna have to shell out a LOT of cash, and it's not gonna be street legal. Best you can hope for is 12s with a turbo kit and a good tuner. |

alright, so a sol cannot be that fast legally. ok. as you could probably tell, i don't know that much about a del sol......or any other car for that matter.......then what would be a good car that is easier and especially cheaper to make fast?

Re: 10 Second Sol
oh.......and in that case, how fast would it be able to get without spending that much money.....like.....what is a respectable time for a sol......what do your cars run?

Re: 10 Second Sol
Right now mine's not very fast in the 1/4. It's still almost completely stock, so I'm probably still in the 16-second range right now. If I get a chance to take it to the track, I'll know my times with my current configuration. With the plans I have for the car though, I'm shooting for 13's. This will be enough to satisfy me - it's my daily driver after all. I'm not looking to break records with it or anything.

Re: 10 Second Sol
15s are decent, be grateful for 14s, and with a turbo and/or one hell of an engine build you could be in 13s, but that's about the fastest a street legal sol will go.
