Unhappy Car Stereo Screw up

Hi everyone, i am new on here, im an 18 yr old girl with a 2000 cavalier, and stupid mistake, let my boyfriend and his friends attempt to install a new deck in my car....after finally getting the dash off (such a pain) the boys realize that the guy at the store gave us the wrong harness, its not even for my car! since it was already 10 at night and they didnt want to stop there, they decide to just cut the wires from the car and try and jimmy rig them to the stereo. well it didnt work, so they give up and decide just to go back and get the right harness the next day. Only now, the wires are cut, and are very very short so there is not much chance of rewiring them back onto the original harness on my car. Is there any way to fix this?? I am just going to take it to a professional, but I want to know now if its even fixable! thanks

First off, dump your loser boyfriend! He's a complete dumbass and so are his stupid buddies. I had a 2000 Chevy Cavalier and I took apart my dash MANY times. I had so much stereo stuff in my car, it was AWESOME. I went to comps and won stuff. Anyways...You'll probably have to take it back to the dealer or take it to the pro's and let them wire it now. You're dumbass boyfriend already F'd it up. Wire harnesses are EASY to come across for the 2000 model today. When I got my 2000 Cavy back in 1999 it was HARD as hell to come across one. If you need any other info, please email me and I'll help!

Re: Car Stereo Screw up

You should have just gotten it done by pros to begin with, has he ever installed a stereo before or was this his first time?

Well I took it to a pro and he fixed it all for me for cheap, so now i have my deck in and everything is all fine. I know i should have gotten it done by a professional in the first place. My boyfriend had never really done it before, but some of his friends had, they were just stupid i guess. but thanks for the advice!

I think you're silly for keeping your boyfriend! That moron definately needs to stay away from car/stereo. I bet he's the kind who'd hook up an amp, by reversing the polarity. Retards.....

Some People are just more Mechanicaly Inclined than Others you Should make fun and call names because they don't know how to work on cars. I am sure there are things you don't know that someone else knows, would you like them to call you Retarded, morons, or a Dumbass, because you don't know what they know? No I dont think so. So why are you doing it?

Ummm...read your reply again...."some people are just more mechanicaly inclined than others you SHOULD make fun and call names because....."

Am I the only one, or are you forgetful? Because the way you worded that...I SHOULD make fun of dumbasses.... Just thought I'd point that out.

Oh, and for the record...there is this thing in the U.S. that we call "Freedom of Speech" - I SHOULD be able to say what I want. After all, it IS MY opinion, not yours.

Re: Car Stereo Screw up

I've seen people's cars burned to the ground because they 'had some buddies who know about car stereos'.

All it takes is one dead short to ground to do the trick.
Very seldom do 'buddies who know about car stereos' put fuses/circuit breakers on any circuit they wire because they're too impatient to hear the tunes to bother with them.
Very seldom do they use the correct gauge wire to handle the current loads involved-same reason.
Very seldom do they care about which circuit they're tapping into to power stuff-overloading that circuit and causing other stuff to fail.
Very seldom do they use conduit covering/grommets on their wiring to keep it protected from rubbing/cutting on metal parts it passes thru.-same reason.
Never EVER do they consider what might happen or what they'd be obligated to do about correcting any of these problems (including burning someone's car to the ground because of their stupidity, because...Hey! It's NOT THEIR CAR, RIGHT?
THEY'RE NOT OUT ALL THAT MONEY AND A SET OF WHEELS 'CAUSE IT'S YOUR CAR THEY SCREWED UP/DESTROYED.
EVERYBODY's an expert when it's YOUR car that needs work .

Always ALWAYS go to the pros if ya don't know how to do it yaself.
If you do know how-do it right and it'll always keep ya happy
