Post Accord Power Windows

Recently bought 2000 Accord LX (as is). Tonight, all 4 power windows opened and closed very slowly (actually had to push one up as I held the button. Does anyone know what the problem is, how much it will likely cost, and can the average Joe make his own repair?

Re: Accord Power Windows

Its probably either....
1: Bad electrical connection
2: Motors are going
3: Windows are sticky (Such as removing tint but leaving the adhesive)

So, try number 3 first by making sure theres nothing sticky that the window might be getting hung up on, and work from there.

Deaz, thank you, I think you nailed it. I just had my windows tinted last week and haven't opened the windows all the way. The back windows try to go up but quit 3/4 of the way. The fronts make it but with extra effort. Do you know of anyway I can keep the tinting and have my windows slide up easier? Is it 'normal' to have this problem and is it reasonable to think the tint installer should have known I would have this dilemma?

Re: Accord Power Windows

Hrm, well, my windows never really had a problem, till the tint started to peel on the bottom of it. Then when I just figured I'd cut it off I had the glue still on it so it sticks. You might just wanna make sure you hear no crinkling and make sure theres no extra glue. Try some window cleaner that wont damage the tint and make sure to get around the rubber weatherstripping to make sure nothing stuck to that.

That is a common problem we see in our shop all the time when people get their windows tinted. The one place near us that tints windows knows that Hondas are notorious for this and the make double sure that they keep the tint away from the window channel run. They do not run the tint all the way to the run.

Like was said above ... tint that is too far out on the window and hitting into the run will cause your problem as well as any glue that may have gotten into the runs also.

You can try to clean them the best you can and apply some silicone very liberally to the runs. May help ... may not.

Re: Accord Power Windows

I fixed that problem, my spraying silicone lubricint on the track of my windows, havent had the problem since. You can pick up a can of it cheap at your local autoparts store. I used Pyroil Silicone Lubricant.
