panel lines?
Hey guys and girls,
Im a newbie to the site and just want to say that it kicks arse. A quick question, what is the easiest way to paint the panel lines to give the appearance of depth. As the lines are so fine and shallow i am having a problem figuring this out. The rest of the model looks great(r32 skyline GTR) and i dont want to stuff it up now. Thanks

some people use gundam markers the super thin ones. i never tired it so i duno how it works. i tried using .05mm pens from my local crafts and supplies shop. it works okay not great since it is ink. but i think the gundam ones are paint like?

First off HI! Welcome to the best site on the net for all car freaks!
Always read the FAQ first before asking most modeling questions. The FAQ usually has it covered. I use a Pigma Micron 005 0.20mm archival ink pen. I aplly it to the bare plastic first, then after each primer coat as well as all color coats except for the last one. It works well for me. Chris

Gundam Marker is the best buck you will spend.. get more than 1, it's sooo easy !

Vric, where do we get these gundam markers? I cannot find them at the three shops here. I've even talked to the owners and they have no idea what I am talking about.

Buy yourself a Gundam marker pen...very quick and easy

My method is a little unorthodox, but it works.
I use a super fine, super long paintbrush dipped in calligraphy ink. The bristles are so fine, they ride along in the panel lines really well, and are easy to control. The ink adheres really well to most types of paint; sometimes too well... The brush is a 18/0 Loew Cornell 1700 Long Liner. I got it and the ink at my local arts & crafts store. The technique takes some time to get used to, but becomes second nature after a while.
