my panel lines

I used one old not well kit for paintig panel lines. I used grey color for it because black don't look realistic. I examined cars on parking place today and on most of them you will not see so much dark lines. When you convert that to scale that isn't black.

hey, is that a scrap car body you're using as a test piece? or is that actually a model you're working on? how are u planning to get rid of the black/gray paint overflow on the window trims?

p.s. personally I use really diluted gray or black paint for panel lines... once dried, it looks like a really really faint line... really diluted = 80% solvent 20% paint... water works as a great diluting agent for acrylic paints

The one with painted panel lines definately looks much better, but IMO, they should be a *tad* bit darker.

A few weeks ago, I was looking at a model of a blue Camaro, I believe. The panel lines were painted dark grey. Anyway, I found a few pictures of the 1:1 car painted in the same color, and decided that slightly too dark panel lines on a model were much better than none at all.

Now all we need to do is figure out an easy way to get this look.

I think the issue of panels lines on this board [primera man's] is not of whether they should be included or even of shade, but of width. Skinny black panel lines look way different than fat black panel lines. Dunno if it's his Gundam marker or his last batch of all-Fujimi kits to blame...

I agree that the could do with being a little darker. I too use a very, very thin wash of black just to accentuate the lines - subtlety is the key!!!

It's scrap model which I use for testing.

I think that can be little darker, but definetely can't be black.

I use shade of grey color for it, because I don't have smoke acrylic color.

I hope so that I answered on all questions.

Yes, it's painted!
Everything was good until it drops on floor. It's painted with Tamiya bright red spray and color is very good. But then somehow droped on the floor and window frame broke. I tried to fix it and never back to look how I wnated so that body is used for various testings.

Yes i have to agree that some of the latest ones i have done do look thick....but its the same pen. As Jay said i beleive its the way the lines are done on the kit.
Take my Porsche by Tamiya and the Fujimi EVO7.........The EVO looks thicker then the Porsche.

Did you tried to use washing for panel? I tried that on mine same I used for airplanes long ago. I just need to make it little darker.

i prefer the darker panel lines myself and use a very fine point pen (.005 tip) to draw them in. i just like the overall look created by having the panel lines stick out and when i look at a 1:1 car myself, thats how i see it anyway.
